Give Me Liberty - An American Dream

(1990) mini series.

This mini series written by Frank Miller, a genius writer. Takes place in the distant future starting in 1995 and moving into the new millennium, coming to a pretty epic conclusion in 2012.

Fat Boy Burger Corporate army, The Surgeon General, and the Aryan Thrust are the foes a young Marth Washington must fight against in this overall master piece by Frank Miller and artist who drew the watchmen, Drew Gibbons. I don’t think I need to say much more than that, but I will, while sipping down some Blue Flame Coffee, Check review on this coffee here.

Give Me Liberty (1990) #1

It’s March 11th 1995 and a new born just came into the world. A whole year before the new President was elected. Fast-forward to 2008 and she kills her first man. The end of this issues leaves us in In 2010, where she is in combat and makes some tough war decisions.

This issue really set the stage for the carnage and chaos that is coming in the next 3 issues. Extremely a surprising read.

Frank Miller takes you into a dystopian future that is so fast paced you might need to hold on to your hat so it wont blow off in this politically driven miniseries. The computer genius Martha Washington is extremely resourceful, who becomes a crazy strong soldier for the peace force.

Set in the future of 1995 to 2012, it stretches your mind between the destruction of our eco system, corruption in our political world, racial issues and the displacement of the poor into “projects” like the Green zone. Essentially Class War at its finest.

GIVE ME LIBERTY #2 (OF 4)

The Gay Nazis have commandeered an orbiting laser cannon, and it's up to Martha Washington to stop them. Will Martha live to see her 17th birthday? -Dark Horse

It really is a bit of a twist to find that some of the military fractions are militant female feminists living primarily in the south utilizing the confederate flag as a symbol of their identity, Nazi’s who are obviously gay men, and some serious government tyrants that could be found in many countries today. Martha Washington, strong, black, and powerful is taking them all on.

GIVE ME LIBERTY #3 (OF 4)

Young Martha Washington has already been decorated for saving the Amazon Rain Forest and preventing the Aryan Thrust from destroying Washington D.C. With a new President in the White House and a new spirit of freedom in the air, it seems Martha is due for a rest. But all thoughts of relaxation vanish when THE SURGEON GENERAL STRIKES! - Dark Horse

Issue one encapsulates Marth’s early life living in the slums of Cabrini Green, a ghetto created by the new age government where you see a presidents brain in a jar like Futurama. You could say that the Surgeon General has the worst case of OCD ever to exist when it comes to how he wants the world to be cleansed. This is where we also see ironically what we are seeing in todays truth, the splintering and splitting of the United States.

We find Martha in a psych hospital, her joining of the military and getting tossed into warzones across the world and even into outer-space, all to survive it all to continue the struggle against almost being assassinated, makes it through an explosion and even prevents the annihilation of a former president.

GIVE ME LIBERTY #4 (OF 4)

The Surgeon General has declared war on the government, the Unites States is falling apart, and the presidency is up for grabs. Martha Washington's got her work cut out for her. "Death & Taxes." Somebody's going to pay. -Dark Horse

All this being portrayed by the amazing art of Dave Gibbons, who keeps you wanting more in each panel. The detail and gore is just outstanding and in some cases eye turning. Would not expect anything less from the man that gave us the brilliant art of Watchmen.

Not to toss out to many spoilers, the overall summary of this series is that you must pick it up and read it for yourself. It is truly encapsulating and deserves some new modern day attention. Maybe even a series on one of these many new streaming services.

I give it a full cup of coffee rating.
